Hi

Hi there! How can I help you today?

Gunnite

Gunite (also spelled "gunnite") is a construction material and application method. Here's a quick overview:
What it is: Gunite is a dry-mix form of shotcrete - it's concrete or mortar pneumatically projected at high velocity onto a surface. The dry ingredients (cement + sand) are mixed first, then water is added at the nozzle just before application.
How it differs from shotcrete:
  • Gunite = dry-mix process (water added at nozzle)
  • Wet-mix shotcrete = all ingredients pre-mixed, then sprayed
Common uses:
  • Swimming pools - the most common residential use; gunite pools are known for durability and design flexibility
  • Tunnels and mines - lining and stabilization
  • Retaining walls
  • Slope stabilization / erosion control
  • Repair of concrete structures
  • Water tanks and reservoirs
Advantages:
  • Very strong and durable
  • Conforms to any shape
  • Low rebound waste when applied correctly
  • Good for overhead and vertical surfaces
Disadvantages:
  • Requires a skilled nozzleman
  • Dust generation during application
  • Consistency depends heavily on operator technique
Is there a specific aspect of gunite you're interested in - pool construction, structural use, technique, or something else?
