fish oil omega-3 capsule take with milk interaction official guidance

No. Fish-oil/omega-3 capsules do not need to be separated from milk. They can be taken with milk or with a normal meal. Taking them after food may reduce fishy burps, nausea, or stomach upset.
The capsule shown is MytriOmega 1000 mg, containing EPA 460 mg and DHA 380 mg. Its label says to take one capsule daily after a meal, unless a clinician advised otherwise.
Important cautions:
  • Avoid it if the person has a fish or shellfish allergy unless their clinician says it is safe.
  • Ask a clinician/pharmacist first if taking warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel, or other blood thinners, especially at higher omega-3 doses. The NIH omega-3 fact sheet notes a possible bleeding interaction with anticoagulants.
  • Milk intolerance or dairy allergy does not create a fish-oil interaction, though the person should check the full ingredient list if they have severe allergies.
