SOPs for NABH

Reading File
NABH SOPs span hospital-wide quality, clinical care, safety, and support services. A practical SOP manual is usually organized into:
  1. Patient access and care - registration, identification, triage, admission, discharge, referral, consent, rights and responsibilities.
  2. Clinical processes - medication management, nursing care, infection prevention, emergency care, surgery, blood transfusion, ICU, documentation.
  3. Quality and safety - incident reporting, sentinel events, audits, clinical indicators, risk management, patient feedback.
  4. Facility and support services - biomedical waste, housekeeping, laundry, kitchen, maintenance, security, fire and disaster preparedness.
  5. Human resources and governance - credentialing, induction, training, staff health, committees, records, policy control.
  6. Diagnostics - laboratory, radiology, specimen handling, critical-value communication, equipment quality control.
A NABH-ready SOP should state its purpose, scope, responsible persons, definitions, stepwise procedure, required records/forms, monitoring indicator, references, version control, and approval details. It must also match your hospital’s actual workflow and available resources.
