Geripod D is a combination of Silodosin 8 mg + Dutasteride 0.5 mg, made by Alembic Pharmaceuticals. It is used to treat Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) - enlarged prostate in men.

  • Darkening of urine
  • Swelling of body parts

Who Should Avoid It

  • Women (especially pregnant women - dutasteride can affect male fetal development)
  • Patients with severe renal impairment
  • Patients with severe liver impairment
  • Those allergic to silodosin, dutasteride, or any component

Important Drug Interactions

  • Other alpha-blockers (doxazosin, terazosin): increased risk of low blood pressure
  • PDE5 inhibitors (sildenafil/Viagra, tadalafil/Cialis): enhanced blood pressure drop - use with caution
  • CYP3A4 inhibitors (ketoconazole, ritonavir): increase silodosin blood levels
  • Cyclosporine: increases silodosin concentration (P-glycoprotein interaction)
  • Alcohol & Caffeine: can worsen dizziness and low blood pressure

Practical Tips

  • Take with food for best efficacy and to reduce GI side effects
  • Avoid driving until you know how the medicine affects you
  • Rise slowly from sitting/lying positions to prevent dizziness
  • Consult a doctor if ejaculation problems are distressing - these are usually reversible on stopping the drug
