MediastinumMediastinal contours are normal. Trachea is central and patent. Aortic knob is unremarkable.
DiaphragmBoth hemidiaphragms are smooth, well-defined, and normally positioned. No subdiaphragmatic free air (no pneumoperitoneum). Gastric air bubble is normally positioned under the left hemidiaphragm.
BonesMild age-appropriate degenerative changes of the thoracolumbar spine (minor osteophytes). No fracture, vertebral collapse, or lytic/sclerotic lesions. Ribs and clavicles intact.
Soft tissuesA small metallic density overlying the lower thoracic spine (~T10 level) - likely a surgical clip from a prior procedure or an external clothing artifact (bra hook/clasp). Soft tissue constriction artifact at the waistline consistent with tight clothing (sari string/elastic waistband).

Impression

Normal chest radiograph. No acute cardiopulmonary pathology is identified:
  1. No pneumonia, consolidation, or interstitial lung disease
  2. No pleural effusion or pneumothorax
  3. Normal cardiac size and mediastinal contours
  4. No pneumoperitoneum
  5. Mild degenerative spondylosis - age appropriate for a 56-year-old
  6. Incidental small metallic density at T10 - likely surgical clip or clothing artifact (clinical correlation advised)
