The box is Monotax 1 g, containing ceftriaxone injection 1 g per vial (Zydus). It is a prescription-only cephalosporin antibiotic for treatment of certain bacterial infections and is intended for intramuscular (IM) or intravenous (IV) use.
- It should be prepared and administered by a trained clinician, not self-injected.
- It does not treat viral illnesses such as colds or flu.
- Tell the prescriber about any serious allergy to ceftriaxone, cephalosporins, penicillins, or other beta-lactam antibiotics.
- Urgent help is needed for breathing difficulty, facial/throat swelling, widespread rash, severe persistent diarrhea, or fainting after a dose.
