Doctor, I became suddenly ill about two days ago. In the evening I suddenly developed a strange sensation throughout my body followed by sharp/severe back pain and then intense pain throughout my whole body. Within about an hour I became so unwell that I had to lie down. Later at night I developed fever with chills and severe body aches. I had very severe pain in my back, whole body, head and especially behind my eyes. My eyes are still painful and watery. I took one paracetamol 500 mg the next morning. The fever and pain improved temporarily and I felt relatively normal after taking medicine, but after sleeping the fever and severe body pain came back. My sleep was disturbed and when I woke up around 11 AM after sleeping around 5 AM, I felt extremely exhausted and my entire body felt very heavy. Initially I could barely move. It feels like I had been physically active the entire night even though I was sleeping. The back pain is particularly severe and I continue to have pain behind my eyes. I have also had headache and significant weakness. I don’t have vomiting, nausea, diarrhoea, abdominal/stomach pain, rash, red spots, bleeding, or a stiff neck. My neck pain is more like body/muscle pain, not stiffness. For mosquito exposure: I was in a hospital from around 2 July until 10 August because a family member was admitted. I was sleeping in the hospital passage during that period, and there were mosquitoes there. I’m concerned about dengue, but I also want to rule out other infections such as chikungunya, malaria, influenza/COVID or typhoid if clinically appropriate.
