I gave my grandpa (72+ years )gnorm sachet as he having loose motions but it is expired 2 years ago what do now and gave electrol water for now

Electrol water was the right call - oral rehydration is the priority for loose motions in elderly patients. Regarding the expired Gnorm sachet (contains Saccharomyces boulardii, a probiotic): expired probiotics typically lose potency rather than become toxic, so a single dose 2 years past expiry is unlikely to cause harm, but it also may not be very effective.
Immediate steps to take now:
  1. Keep giving ORS (Electrol) - this is the most important thing. Offer small sips frequently, not large amounts at once.
  2. Watch for danger signs in your grandpa (72+ is a vulnerable age):
    • Reduced or no urination (sign of dehydration)
    • Confusion, dizziness, or weakness
    • High fever (above 101°F / 38.5°C)
    • Blood or mucus in stool
    • Vomiting that prevents him from keeping fluids down
    • Loose motions more than 6-8 times in 24 hours
    • Severe stomach pain
  3. If ANY danger sign appears - go to a doctor or emergency immediately. Elderly patients dehydrate much faster than younger people and can deteriorate quickly.
  4. If he seems stable, you can also offer:
    • Plain rice water (kanji), banana, plain curd (probiotics help naturally), toast
    • Avoid spicy, oily, or dairy-heavy foods for now
    • Keep him lying down and rested
Regarding the expired Gnorm: You do not need to panic - one dose of an expired probiotic is not dangerous. But don't give more doses from that expired sachet. If a probiotic is needed, get a fresh one from a pharmacy.
Bottom line: Monitor him closely for the next few hours. At 72+, loose motions with dehydration can become serious fast. If he's not improving within 12-24 hours, or if any danger sign appears sooner, take him to a doctor - they may prescribe a stool test, IV fluids if dehydrated, or an antibiotic/antidiarrheal depending on the cause.
