WHO ne health ko define kiya hai ek aisi condition ke roop mein jisme physical (shareerik), mental (mansik), aur social (samajik) well-being completely theek ho - sirf bimari ka na hona kafi nahi hai.
Mental health bhi utni hi important hai jitni physical health, social health, ya spiritual health.
WHO ke mutabik, mental health ek aisi state hai jisme:

Robinson, 1983 ke according:
"Mental health ek successful adaptation hai - matlab andar (internal) ya bahar (external) ke stressors ko successfully handle karna. Yeh thoughts (soch), feelings (bhavnayen), aur behaviours (vyavhaar) se pata chalta hai jo age ke hisaab se appropriate ho aur local/cultural norms ke saath match kare."
