What You Have - Assessed One by One

FEVER / FLU / BODY PAIN

• Both are the same drug - paracetamol (acetaminophen) - just different strengths.
• Safe and well-tolerated at recommended doses (max 4g/day total across all forms).
• Important: Do NOT take both together or alternate them counting as separate drugs - they are the same molecule. Having two strengths is actually useful: use 500mg for mild fever, 650mg for higher fever/body pain.
• Safe in stomach issues (does not irritate the gut).

• Effective anti-inflammatory, good for body pain, fever, sore throat inflammation.
• ⚠️ Caution: Do NOT take ibuprofen if you have stomach pain, indigestion, or loose stools at the same time. It can worsen gastritis and ulcers. Always take with food.
• Do NOT combine with Cyclopam (antispasmodic) for stomach pain and also take ibuprofen - this combination may mask and worsen GI issues.
• ⚠️ Avoid if you have kidney issues or are dehydrated (during loose stools/vomiting episodes).
• Bottom line: Ibuprofen + Paracetamol are duplicative for fever. Ibuprofen is better reserved for muscle pain/inflammation when your stomach is fine.

ALLERGIC RUNNY NOSE / SNEEZING

• These are essentially the same drug - levocetirizine is the active enantiomer of cetirizine. Both are second-generation antihistamines, non-sedating.
• You do NOT need both. Levocetirizine 5mg = Cetirizine 10mg in effect.
• ✅ Good choice for allergic rhinitis, runny nose, sneezing.
• Low sedation compared to older antihistamines.
• Recommendation: Keep just Levocet 5mg (slightly more potent, fewer side effects). Remove duplicate cetirizine.

SORE THROAT / THROAT PAIN

• ✅ Good - antiseptic lozenges with local soothing and mild antimicrobial action.
• Safe, minimal side effects.
• Useful addition: Consider keeping a basic antiseptic mouthwash (Betadine gargle / Hexidine) for throat infections - more thorough than lozenges alone.

STOMACH ISSUES / GAS / INDIGESTION

• These are three different formulations of the same base drug (pantoprazole - a proton pump inhibitor):
  • Pantop 40: Pure pantoprazole 40mg - for acid, indigestion, gastritis.
  • Pantop D: Pantoprazole + Domperidone - adds a motility agent (helps with nausea, bloating).
  • Pantop DSR: Pantoprazole + Domperidone SR (slow release) - same as Pantop D but longer acting.
• ⚠️ You don't need all three. Keep Pantop D or Pantop DSR - it covers both acid suppression AND nausea/bloating in one pill.
• Important: PPI drugs like pantoprazole should not be taken long-term without doctor advice. Use only when you have active stomach symptoms.
• ✅ Excellent choice for your stomach complaints.

• An antispasmodic useful for stomach cramps, colic-type pain, intestinal spasms.
• ✅ Good for crampy abdominal pain and gas pains.
• ⚠️ Contains paracetamol - watch your total paracetamol dose for the day (don't also take Dolo 650 + Cyclopam together).
• ⚠️ Side effects: dry mouth, blurred vision, urinary retention at higher doses (anticholinergic effects) - use as needed, not regularly.

VOMITING / NAUSEA

• ✅ Excellent choice - ondansetron is a strong antiemetic (5-HT3 antagonist).
• Safe and effective for nausea/vomiting from gastroenteritis.
• ✅ Well suited for your kit.

DEHYDRATION / LOOSE STOOLS

• ✅ Absolutely essential - excellent choice.
• Most important item for loose stools/vomiting episodes.
• Keep at least 4-6 sachets.

WOUNDS / CUTS / ABRASIONS

• ✅ Good topical antibiotic for small cuts and abrasions to prevent infection.
• Apply after cleaning the wound with clean water / antiseptic.
• ⚠️ Missing item: You need a povidone-iodine (Betadine) solution or antiseptic liquid (like Savlon/Dettol diluted) to clean wounds BEFORE applying bacitracin. Bacitracin alone without proper wound cleaning is insufficient.

• ✅ Excellent - complete basic wound care set.

BURNS

• ✅ Good. Burnol (turmeric-based) for minor burns is traditional and soothing.
• For slightly larger minor burns, Silver Sulfadiazine 1% cream is the pharmacological gold standard.
• ⚠️ Rule: Run cool (not cold/ice) water over the burn for 10-20 minutes FIRST before applying any ointment.

BODY PAIN / LEG CRAMPS

• ✅ Good for localized joint and muscle pain. Topical diclofenac has minimal systemic absorption and low side effects compared to oral NSAIDs.
• For leg cramps specifically, topical application has limited evidence - stretching and hydration help more.

  • Cyclopam - anticholinergic effects (dry mouth, urinary retention)
  • Pantoprazole (long-term) - low magnesium, B12 deficiency
  • Emeset - headache, constipation (rare)
  • Paracetamol - liver damage if you exceed 4g/day (mind overlapping brands like Dolo + Cyclopam)
