Your handbook is ready: a 24-page, full-colour PDF called "Speaking Stars!". It has 15 speaking practice tests in the style of Cambridge A2 (Key and Flyers) exams, made for a 4th grade ESL student. I checked the layout on several pages (the cover, the front pages, tests 1, 10 and 13, the sample answers and the tracker). I did not look at every test page.

Speaking Stars A2plus Handbook

PDF Document · PDF

What is inside
  • Cover: pictures from your file in coloured frames.
  • How to Use: the test format (about 7 minutes) and a star-marking guide. It scores Grammar and Vocabulary, Pronunciation, and Interactive Communication, each out of 5.
  • Tense Power Guide: Present Simple, Present Continuous and Future Simple (will), with examples and clue words. It also has a cause-and-effect box from page 37.
  • Word Bank: the 9 pictured words (cream, sugar, salt, pour, plastic bags, mixture, open, closed, freezer). Next to them are the extra words from the reading page, such as cold, warm, hungry, tea, soup, chicken, carrots, onions, pot, nap, party, balloons, play, stage, actors, cause and effect.
  • Tests 1 to 15: one page each. The topics follow your file, from "Cream and Coffee", "Pour It!" and "In the Freezer" to "Omar Feels Cold", "Party Time!", "Cause and Effect" and a final "Super Chef" test.
  • Sample Answers: 3 pages for the examiner.
  • Progress Tracker and a Speaking Star certificate.
Each test page has four parts
  1. Let's Chat: 4 easy questions from the examiner.
  2. Picture Talk: photos taken from your file, with 3 questions on what the student sees, what is happening now, and what will happen next.
  3. Ask Me!: 3 cue cards, for example "you / eat / breakfast / every day ?". The student turns each into a question for the examiner.
  4. Your Turn!: a short situation with 3 helper questions and the Power Words to use.
Each test page also shows the three tenses with a sentence on the topic, such as "I pour juice / I am pouring juice / I will pour juice". There is a self-check box and a star row at the bottom.
Things to know
  • Every question and sample answer uses only the three tenses you asked for.
  • A few vocabulary words, such as "oven", "recycling bin", "melt" and "sweater", are not in your file. They appear only in the sample answers.
  • This is practice material in the Cambridge style. It is not an official Cambridge paper.
  • The photos come from your textbook pages, so use the PDF for your own teaching only.
If you want any changes, I can make them. For example, I can add more tests or switch the paper size to Letter.

Very bad work done .

I'm sorry the handbook missed the mark. Which parts need fixing?
