Here is the National Immunisation Schedule (NIS) of India, covering both the Government of India's Universal Immunization Programme (UIP) and the IAP (Indian Academy of Pediatrics) recommendations.
National Immunisation Schedule - India (2025/2026)
There are two parallel schedules in India:
- Government NIS / UIP - free vaccines at government health centres
- IAP Schedule - broader, includes additional private-sector vaccines
Government NIS (Universal Immunization Programme - UIP)

Pregnant Women:
- Td-1 - at first ANC visit / confirmation of pregnancy
- Td-2 - minimum 4 weeks after Td-1 (OR Td Booster if previously vaccinated within 3 years)
*JE (Japanese Encephalitis) - only in selected endemic districts
IAP Schedule (2025/2026) - Includes Additional Vaccines

Key Points
- Pentavalent vaccine combines DPT + Hib + Hepatitis B in one injection - reduces the number of injections at 6, 10, 14 weeks
- PCV and Rotavirus vaccines have now been rolled out to all states under the UIP (previously only in select states)
- HPV vaccine is part of the government programme for adolescent girls aged 9-14 years (2 doses, 6 months apart) in many states
- Vitamin A supplementation is integrated into the UIP schedule from 9 months to 5 years
- JE vaccine is given only in endemic/high-risk districts, not universally
- The IAP schedule includes MMR (with mumps component) while the government UIP uses MR (without mumps)
- Private sector vaccines (Varicella, Hepatitis A, TCV, MMR, HPV) are recommended by IAP but may not be available free at all government centres
