I have had progressively worsening itching for about 1 week. It started on both thighs and calves and now sometimes also affects my lower back and abdomen. The itching occurs during both the day and night and sometimes becomes worse after sweating or exercise. There is no obvious rash, redness, swelling, blisters, or fever. Multiple photos of the affected skin show only mild dry skin. Occasionally, I notice a small black spot with a brief burning sensation, which then settles without persistent pain. No one else at home has similar itching. I have no weight loss, no swollen legs, no enlarged lymph nodes, and no yellowing of the eyes or skin. My urine is sometimes dark yellow in the early morning only. I recently changed to a Sunflower Tomato De-Tan soap before/during the onset of symptoms. I tried cold showers instead of hot water and applied Vaseline petroleum jelly, but the itching persisted, and Vaseline seemed to cause temporary increased itching immediately after application. I am looking for the most likely diagnosis, recommended examination, and whether blood tests (CBC, blood sugar, liver function, kidney function, thyroid function) or allergy evaluation are needed.
