I recently changed my number. I mean, I added another SIM because I moved to the US. And now I think I'm not able to receive iMessage or send iMessage or receive FaceTime or do FaceTime. I want to update number in that and make this all active. I don't see my contacts synced with that properly. What can I do?

iCloud contacts not syncing new iPhone SIM fix 2025

Here's a complete fix for all three issues - iMessage, FaceTime, and Contacts sync.

1. Fix iMessage with Your New US Number

Step 1 - Check your Apple ID phone number:
  • Go to Settings > [your name] at the top
  • Tap Name, Phone Numbers, Email
  • Make sure your new US number appears here. If not, tap Edit and add it
Step 2 - Update iMessage Send & Receive:
  • Go to Settings > Apps > Messages (iOS 18) or Settings > Messages
  • Make sure iMessage is toggled ON
  • Tap Send & Receive
  • Under "You Can Be Reached By iMessage At," check that your new number is ticked. Tick it if it isn't
  • Under "Start New Conversations From," select your new US number
Step 3 - If it gets stuck on "Waiting for Activation":
  1. Turn iMessage OFF in Settings
  2. Turn FaceTime OFF in Settings
  3. Restart your iPhone
  4. Turn iMessage back ON - it should now activate against the new number

2. Fix FaceTime with Your New US Number

  • Go to Settings > Apps > FaceTime (or Settings > FaceTime)
  • Make sure FaceTime is toggled ON
  • Under "You Can Be Reached By FaceTime At," tick your new US number
  • Under "Caller ID," select your new US number
If FaceTime shows the old number or fails to activate, use the same toggle-off, restart, toggle-on sequence described above.

3. Fix Contacts Sync

  • Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud
  • Tap Show All (if needed) and find Contacts
  • Make sure the toggle is ON
  • If it was already on, try turning it OFF, wait 5 seconds, then turn it back ON
Also check:
  • Settings > Apps > Contacts - confirm your iCloud account is listed as the default account
If contacts still don't appear, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage and make sure your iCloud storage isn't full (a full iCloud stops sync).

If Nothing Works - Nuclear Option

  1. Go to Settings > Messages, turn iMessage OFF
  2. Go to Settings > FaceTime, turn FaceTime OFF
  3. Go to Settings > [your name], scroll down and Sign Out of Apple ID
  4. Restart your iPhone
  5. Sign back into Apple ID
  6. Re-enable iMessage and FaceTime - both will re-activate fresh with your current SIM

One extra tip for Dual SIM users: Since you have two SIMs, iOS may default iMessage/FaceTime to your older/non-US line. After activating, double-check that the "Start new conversations from" and "Caller ID" fields both point to the number you actually want to use in the US.
