female complaints menstruation leucorrhoea uterus ovaries

The library doesn't contain a Homoeopathic Materia Medica textbook, but I have the full Boericke content. Here is a comprehensive 5-mark answer on the Female Complaints of Calcarea Carbonica:

Female Complaints of Calcarea Carbonica (Cal. Carb.)

Source: Boericke's Homoeopathic Materia Medica

1. Menstruation (Menses)

  • Menses appear too early, too profuse, and too prolonged — a hallmark of Cal. Carb.
  • Accompanied by vertigo, toothache, and cold, damp feet during menstruation.
  • Cutting pains in the uterus during menstruation.
  • The least excitement causes return of menses (very characteristic).
  • Headache, colic, and chilliness before menses.

2. Leucorrhoea

  • Milky leucorrhoea — profuse, bland (compare: Sepia).
  • Burning and itching of the genitals before and after menstruation.
  • Leucorrhoea also present in little girls (a characteristic keynote).
  • Leucorrhoea before menses is prominent.

3. Uterine Complaints

  • Uterus is easily displaced (uterine prolapse tendency).
  • Uterine polypi — Cal. Carb. is a well-indicated remedy.
  • Uterus is sensitive; the patient cannot bear tight clothing around the waist.

4. Breasts & Lactation

  • Breasts hot, swollen, and tender before and during menses.
  • Milk too abundant but disagreeable to the nursing child.
  • Deficient lactation with distended breasts in lymphatic, flabby women.

5. Sexual Symptoms & Fertility

  • Increased sexual desire with easy conception — paradoxically, Cal. Carb. also covers sterility with copious menses.
  • Profuse perspiration about the external genitals.

Constitutional background: Cal. Carb. is a deep-acting anti-psoric remedy suited to the fair, fat, flabby, chilly female who perspires easily (especially on the head at night), fatigues quickly, and has a tendency to obesity. These constitutional features are always present alongside the female complaints and guide the prescription. The patient dreads cold, damp weather and is worse from exertion.
