FIRST: CRITICAL FACTS YOU MUST KNOW (Nepal-Specific)

FMGE IS MANDATORY for Nepal MBBS graduates. Nepal is treated as a foreign country under Indian medical law. There is NO exemption from FMGE for Indian students who did MBBS in Nepal. You must pass FMGE (conducted by NBEMS) before applying for registration.

NEET score is mandatory - you must have had a valid NEET-UG qualifying score at the time of admission to a Nepal medical college. NMC India cross-checks your NEET roll number when you apply for FMGE/registration.

Nepal - No Passport / Visa stamps - since India-Nepal has an open border, Indian citizens travel without a passport/visa. This creates a documentation challenge addressed below.

Internship in Nepal - NMC India requires that your 1-year CRMI internship was completed at the SAME Nepal university that awarded your MBBS degree. After clearing FMGE, you may also need to complete an additional CRMI in India (check current NMC notification - rules updated March 2026).

KEY POINTS TO REMEMBER

Bihar Domicile NOT required for FMGE/FMG registration with BCMR. NMC has explicitly instructed state councils not to deny FMGs based on domicile.

FMGE pass = gateway to any State Medical Council in India. You are free to choose BCMR.

Nepal open border - no visa stamps in passport is normal and expected. Compensate with college ID, bonafide certificate, and Nepal Medical Council certificate.

CRMI in India - check NMC's March 2026 circular. Some FMGs may need to complete an additional 1-year CRMI in India even after completing Nepal internship. If required, you need to complete this CRMI at an NMC-approved Bihar hospital and get internship completion from there before permanent BCMR registration.

You cannot skip to Permanent Registration directly. You MUST do Provisional Registration first, then complete internship in India, then apply for Permanent Registration. This guide covers ALL THREE PHASES.

• Internship Completion Certificate (from Nepal hospital where you did 1-year internship in Nepal)
• Bonafide/Attendance Certificate (proving you physically studied there)

• Nepal Medical Council Registration Certificate (you get this after completing Nepal internship)

• FMGE Pass Scorecard (download from your NBEMS login account)

• NMC India Eligibility Certificate (issued when you were admitted to Nepal college, or your NEET scorecard if admitted post-2019)

• Aadhaar Card
• Passport (all pages, even if blank)
• NEET-UG Scorecard (from the year you joined Nepal MBBS)
• Class 10th Certificate + Marksheet
• Class 12th Certificate + Marksheet (PCB)
• Recent passport-size photographs (take 10-12 copies, keep extras)

PHASE 1 - PROVISIONAL REGISTRATION AT BCMR

(Do This First - Before Internship in India)

STEP 1 - Open the BCMR Website

STEP 2 - Create Your Account (Sign Up)

1. Look for the "Sign Up" or "Register" button on the top right corner of the homepage
2. Click on it
3. A form will open - you will see a question asking "Are you already registered?"
4. Select "NO" (because you are new)
5. Fill in:
   • Your full name (exactly as on Aadhaar)
   • Mobile number (use your own active number - OTP will come here)
   • Email ID (use your own - login credentials will come here)
   • Create a password
   • Fill in the CAPTCHA (the jumbled letters/numbers shown)
6. Click "Sign Up"
7. You will receive an OTP on your mobile - enter it to verify
8. Write down your login ID and password somewhere safe - you will need this many times

STEP 3 - Complete Your Profile

1. Upload your Passport-size Photograph (JPEG, under 100 KB)
2. Upload your Signature (JPEG, under 100 KB)
   • Sign on white paper with blue/black pen
   • Do NOT sign in capital letters - it will be rejected
   • Photograph or scan it, crop it, save as JPEG under 100 KB
3. Fill in your basic personal details (name, date of birth, address)
4. Click "Save"

STEP 4 - Start the Application Form

1. Look at the left side menu bar on your dashboard
2. Click on "Apply Online"
3. You will see different registration types
4. As a Nepal FMG who passed FMGE and wants to start internship, select: 👉 "Fresh Provisional Registration - Foreign Graduate"
5. Click "Apply Now"

STEP 5 - Fill the Application Form

• Full name (exactly as Aadhaar)
• Date of birth
• Father's name / Mother's name
• Address (your Delhi/current address is fine - no Bihar address needed)
• Mobile number, email

• Qualification: MBBS
• University name: your Nepal university name
• Country: Nepal
• Year of passing
• Registration number with Nepal Medical Council
• FMGE Roll number and passing date

• When asked for your State Medical Council: Select BCMR / Bihar
• When asked for registration type: Select "Foreign Graduate"

STEP 6 - Download and Fill Self Declaration Form

⚠️ THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT - DO NOT IGNORE IT

1. Click the link and download the Self Declaration Form (it is a PDF)
2. Print it on paper
3. Read it carefully
4. Fill it by hand - write in your own handwriting with a blue pen
5. Sign it at the bottom
6. Scan it again and save as PDF
7. Upload this scanned handwritten form back into the application

❌ Computer-typed forms are NOT accepted. Must be handwritten.

STEP 7 - Fill Academic Details

• All your MBBS professional exam results (year-wise)
• Internship details from Nepal
• FMGE exam details (roll number, date, score, pass certificate number)
• NMC India Eligibility Certificate number

STEP 8 - Upload All Documents

If any file is over 2 MB, compress it using ilovepdf.com (free website) - click "Compress PDF"

STEP 9 - Pay the Fee

1. Click "Pay Now"
2. Pay the registration fee online using:
   • UPI (GPay, PhonePe, Paytm)
   • Net Banking
   • Debit / Credit Card
3. The fee amount will be shown on screen (check bcmr.net.in for current fee - it is updated periodically)
4. After payment is successful, a payment receipt will appear
5. IMMEDIATELY download and save the payment receipt - you may not be able to download it again later

STEP 10 - Upload Payment Receipt

1. Log back into the BCMR portal
2. Go to "Application Status"
3. Upload the payment receipt (PDF)
4. Click Save / Submit

STEP 11 - Print Your Application

1. Go to Application Status
2. Print your final completed application form
3. Take multiple copies (keep 4-5 printouts)
4. Keep them safe - you will need them at the BCMR office

STEP 12 - Visit BCMR Patna Office for Physical Verification

• Email to your registered email ID
• SMS to your mobile number
• Check your Application Status section on the portal

• ALL original documents (degree, marksheets, FMGE certificate, Aadhaar, passport, Nepal Medical Council cert, etc.)
• Self-attested photocopies of all documents (keep 2 sets)
• Printed application form (multiple copies)
• Payment receipt (printed)

STEP 13 - Receive Provisional Registration Certificate

⭐ KEEP THIS CERTIFICATE VERY SAFELY. MAKE MULTIPLE PHOTOCOPIES. KEEP A SOFT COPY. You will need it for:

PHASE 2 - COMPLETE CRMI INTERNSHIP IN BIHAR

STEP 14 - Apply for CRMI Seat in Bihar

1. Apply to the Bihar Directorate of Medical Education (DME)
2. Apply for a CRMI internship seat at an NMC-approved government medical college hospital in Bihar
3. BCMR and Bihar DME conduct periodic counselling/allotment for FMG internship seats
4. Bihar has available CRMI seats at hospitals attached to government medical colleges (PMCH Patna, IGIMS, NMCH, etc.)
5. Wait for your allotment letter

STEP 15 - Complete Your 12-Month CRMI

• Report to the hospital on the joining date
• Complete all rotational postings as scheduled
• Maintain your attendance record
• Keep all departmental completion certificates
• After 12 months, get your CRMI Internship Completion Certificate from the hospital/medical college

You will receive a stipend (salary) during this internship - NMC rules say no fees can be charged from FMG interns and stipend must be same as Indian interns.
