Uses

  • Dry cough, allergic cough, smoker's cough, whooping cough
  • Wet/productive cough with thick mucus
  • Cold and allergy symptoms: sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, throat irritation

Dosage

  • Take as prescribed by your doctor
  • Administer after meals using the measuring cup provided
  • Suitable for adults and children (dose varies by age - consult a doctor)

Side Effects

  • Common: Drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, nausea, constipation, blurred vision, fatigue
  • Most side effects are temporary and resolve on discontinuation

Contraindications / Cautions

  • BPH (prostate enlargement) - diphenhydramine may worsen urinary retention
  • Glaucoma - may increase intraocular pressure
  • Asthma - may worsen respiratory symptoms
  • Hypertension - ammonium chloride may elevate blood pressure
  • MAO inhibitors - avoid combination
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding - consult a doctor
  • Diabetes - sugar-based formulation; use with caution
  • Driving/machinery - causes significant drowsiness; avoid

Drug Interactions

  • CNS depressants, sedatives, tranquilizers (additive drowsiness)
  • Linezolid, Morphine
  • Other antihistamines
Note: Torex BR Syrup is a separate formulation containing Terbutaline + Bromhexine + Guaiphenesin, used specifically for bronchospasm with productive cough. Always confirm which variant is prescribed.
