The photo shows diffuse redness and possible mild swelling around the elbow/upper forearm, without an obvious open wound or clear deformity. A photo alone cannot determine whether this is bruising, irritation, bursitis, an insect bite, or a skin/soft-tissue infection.
Please tell me:
- When it started and whether there was an injury, bite, injection, or pressure on the elbow
- Whether it feels warm, painful, itchy, or is getting larger
- Whether there is fever, pus, red streaking, numbness, or difficulty moving the elbow
Seek urgent in-person care today if the area is rapidly spreading, hot and very tender, markedly swollen, draining pus, associated with fever, red streaks, or if elbow movement is limited.
