Do not start Amoxyclav 375 mg without a clinician examining her. It may not treat the cause of the fever, because many high fevers are viral or due to conditions needing different tests or treatment. Unnecessary antibiotics can cause diarrhea, allergy, and antibiotic resistance. The
CDC notes that antibiotics do not work against viruses.
A 103°F (39.4°C) fever lasting 3 days needs same-day medical assessment, especially if there is no obvious mild cause. A doctor may need to check for dengue, malaria, COVID/influenza, urinary infection, pneumonia, typhoid, throat infection, or other local causes, depending on symptoms and region.
Paracetamol
- If she has no significant liver disease, does not drink heavily, and is not taking other medicines containing paracetamol/acetaminophen, 500 mg can be taken for fever.
- It may be repeated every 6 hours if needed. Keep the total at or below 3,000 mg in 24 hours unless her own clinician advises otherwise.
- Drink fluids or oral rehydration solution, rest, and use light clothing. Do not use alcohol rubs or ice baths.
Go to emergency care now if she has any of: confusion, fainting, severe headache or stiff neck, breathing difficulty, chest pain, persistent vomiting, severe abdominal pain, rash or bleeding/bruising, very low urine output, marked drowsiness, seizure, dehydration, or possible pregnancy with concerning symptoms.
