Gallbladder pain may be felt at the right side of the neck due to referred pain. Inflammation of the gallbladder may irritate the adjacent diaphragmatic peritoneum. Pain impulses travel through the phrenic nerve (C3-C5), especially C4, which also supplies the skin over the shoulder and lower neck through supraclavicular nerves. The brain therefore mislocalizes the pain to this area.
