That yellow patch on the upper arm is a healing bruise (resolving ecchymosis). Here's exactly what's happening:
Why It's Yellow
When you bump or injure the arm, small blood vessels (capillaries) under the skin rupture and blood pools in the tissue. Your immune system then breaks down the trapped hemoglobin (the red protein in blood) in a predictable sequence:
Stage
Color
What's Happening
Day 1-2
Red / Purple
Fresh blood pooling
Day 3-4
Blue / Black
Deoxygenated blood
Day 5-6
Green
Hemoglobin → biliverdin
Day 7+
Yellow
Biliverdin → bilirubin
The yellow color means you're in the final stage of healing - your body is almost done clearing out the old blood. It should fade completely within a few more days.
What the image shows
The patch is roughly 2-3 inches long, elongated, with diffuse/blurry edges (no sharp border), and the skin surface is completely intact - all classic signs of a resolving bruise.
When to see a doctor
You have no memory of any injury to that spot
You're getting bruises in multiple places without explanation
The spot becomes painful, warm, swollen, or grows larger
You bruise very easily from minor contact frequently
If it's just from a knock or bump a week or so ago, this is completely normal and will disappear on its own. No treatment needed.
