Synopsis Aerva lanata Valproate Teratogenicity

Word Document · DOCX

I read your handwritten title as: Protective effect of Aerva lanata extract against valproate-induced teratogenicity in the chick embryo (in ovo) and its effects on valproate anticonvulsant activity in mice. "Centella asiatica" is struck out, so I used Aerva lanata. Please check that this is right.
What the document contains
  1. Title block, with fields for your name, guide, institution and duration left blank.
  2. Introduction and need for the study. It covers valproate teratogenicity (neural tube defects in about 3 to 5% of exposed pregnancies), the reasons it is used in pregnancy anyway, and why Aerva lanata is a candidate.
  3. Review of literature, with the research gap.
  4. Aim, objectives and hypothesis.
  5. Materials and methods:
    • Extract preparation and phytochemical screening.
    • Acute toxicity under OECD 423.
    • Part A (chick embryo): fertilized White Leghorn eggs incubated at 37.5 °C, with 7 proposed groups. It records survival, hatching, morphometry, gross malformations, alizarin red/alcian blue skeletal staining, histology and oxidative stress markers (MDA, GSH, SOD).
    • Part B (mice): maximal electroshock and pentylenetetrazole seizure models plus a rotarod test, with 5 groups (vehicle, valproate alone, extract alone, valproate plus low and high extract dose).
    • Sample size and statistics (ANOVA with post hoc test, Chi-square or Fisher's exact test).
    • Inclusion and exclusion criteria.
  6. Ethics (IAEC and CPCSEA), expected outcome, a tentative 9-month work plan, and references.
Things to confirm with your guide
  • Doses and timing: I did not fill in the valproate dose, the extract doses, the day of injection in ovo or the pretreatment period. I marked these as "determined by pilot study" because I could not verify them. Please check them against your lab protocol and the papers you plan to cite.
  • Extraction solvent and plant part: both are proposed, not fixed.
  • Group sizes: these are proposals. Part B uses n = 6 per group.
  • Literature search: my PubMed search found no existing study combining Aerva lanata with valproate teratogenicity. It was a quick search, so please repeat it before you claim a gap.
  • References: the PMIDs come from my PubMed searches, and the textbook citations (Kaplan & Sadock, Emery's, Goodman & Gilman) are named by section only, without page numbers. Please check each reference before submitting.
I can change the format to your university's synopsis template if you have one. I can also add a flowchart or an informed-consent or CPCSEA proforma.
