Key Restrictions for Flights from India (including Mumbai)

1. Baggage drop is still mandatory — Even if you check in online, you must visit the Cathay Pacific check-in counter at BOM to drop bags and get your boarding pass stamped/verified. Indian airports generally require a physical counter visit for document verification.
2. No paperless boarding — Indian airports (including Mumbai T2) typically require a physical boarding pass (printed or counter-issued) due to security check requirements. A mobile boarding pass alone may not be accepted at all checkpoints.
3. Visa & document checks — For international travel, airline staff at the counter verify travel documents (passport, visa, etc.), which is mandatory regardless of web check-in.
4. Hand baggage-only passengers — If you're traveling with only cabin baggage, web check-in may allow you to proceed more quickly, but you'll still likely need to visit the counter for document verification at BOM.

Practical Advice

• Do web check-in to select your preferred seat and save time at the counter.
• Still arrive at the airport early (at least 3 hours before departure for international flights from BOM) — the counter visit is still required.
• Bring a printout of your boarding pass or have it ready on the app, as security at T2 may ask for it at entry.

DigiYatra for International Flights

Current Status

• DigiYatra is a facial recognition-based paperless entry system launched by the Indian government (operated by DigiYatra Foundation).
• As of my knowledge, it is restricted to domestic air travel only within India.
• It is not available for international departures, regardless of which airline or airport you're flying from — including Mumbai T2's international terminal.

Why the Limitation?

• International departures involve immigration clearance (FRRO/Bureau of Immigration), which operates on separate systems not integrated with DigiYatra.
• International security and boarding processes require physical document verification (passport, visa) that DigiYatra's biometric-only flow doesn't currently cover.
• The international terminal at BOM (T2) handles DigiYatra only for the domestic wing, not the international departure gates.

What This Means for Your Cathay Pacific Flight

• Even with a web check-in boarding pass, you cannot use DigiYatra to enter the international terminal or board.
• You'll need your physical/printed boarding pass + passport at every checkpoint (terminal entry, security, immigration, gate).
