1. HIV Kya Hai?

HIV = Human Immunodeficiency Virus

  2. Fusion - Virus ki membrane aur cell ki membrane fuse ho jaati hai. HIV ka RNA genome cell ke andar aa jaata hai.
  3. Replication - RNA ko Reverse Transcriptase enzyme double-stranded DNA mein convert karta hai (ise proviral DNA kehte hain).
  4. Integration - Yeh DNA nucleus mein jaata hai aur host genome mein integrate ho jaata hai. Yahan yeh months to years tak chhupa reh sakta hai (latent infection).
  5. Activation - Jab T cell activate hoti hai (kisi bhi infection ke response mein), NF-kB transcription factor HIV ke genes bhi activate kar deta hai.
  6. Release - Naye HIV virions bante hain, budding hoti hai, aur cell mar jaati hai.

3. CD4+ T Cells Kyun Marti Hain?

Roz 100 billion naye virus particles bante hain aur 1-2 billion CD4+ T cells marti hain. Multiple reasons:
  • Direct killing - Virus replication se cell membrane damage hoti hai
  • Apoptosis - Uninfected T cells bhi apoptosis mein jaati hain (chronic inflammation se)
  • Syncytia formation - Infected cells uninfected cells se fuse ho jaati hain aur giant cells ban jaati hain jo jaldi mar jaati hain

Jab CD4 <200 ho jaata hai, body infection se nahi lad paati. Ye common diseases hoti hain:
  • Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PCP)
