Explain this in esay way

The image is upside down, but the text is clearly from Hahnemann's Organon of Medicine, Sections §18 and §19. Here is a simple explanation of both:

§ 18 - The Totality of Symptoms is the Only Guide

Original idea: "Besides the totality of symptoms, nothing can be discovered in diseases where symptoms express their need of aid - the sum of all symptoms in each individual case of disease must be the sole indication to direct us in the choice of a remedy."

In simple words:

When a patient is sick, the only clue a doctor has to choose the right medicine is all the symptoms the patient shows and feels - put together as a complete picture.
There is nothing hidden inside the body that you can directly see or touch to know the disease. The symptoms - what the patient experiences (pain, fever, weakness, etc.) - are the only window into what is wrong.
Think of it like this: The disease is a "locked room." The symptoms are the keys that tell you which medicine (the right key) to use to open and cure it.

§ 19 - Diseases Are Just Alterations in a Healthy State

Original idea: "Diseases are nothing more than alterations in the state of the healthy individual which express themselves by morbid signs, and the cure is only possible by a change to the healthy condition of the state of the diseased individual. It is very evident that medicines could never cure diseases if they did not possess the power of altering man's state of health which depends on sensations and functions; indeed, their curative power must be owing solely to this power they possess of altering man's state of health."

In simple words:

  • A disease is simply the body's normal healthy state getting disturbed or altered.
  • When you are sick, your body's feelings (sensations) and workings (functions) have changed from normal.
  • To cure someone, you need to bring those changes back to normal - back to health.
  • A medicine can only cure a disease if it has the power to change the body's state - to shift it back from the sick state to the healthy state.
Think of it like a thermostat: Your normal temperature is 37°C (healthy). Disease pushes it off balance. Medicine works by "resetting the thermostat" back to normal.

The Big Picture (Both Sections Together)

ConceptSimple Meaning
DiseaseA change from the healthy normal state
SymptomsSigns that show this change has happened
CureReversing that change - restoring health
MedicineA substance that can cause (and reverse) changes in the body's state
How to pick a medicineLook at ALL symptoms together - that is your only guide
This is the foundation of Homeopathy as described by Samuel Hahnemann - the idea that symptoms are not just side effects of disease, but the entire basis for understanding and treating it.
