ACR Appropriateness Criteria acute trauma to knee child radiographs

I cannot diagnose definitively from a phone photograph of an X-ray film, but I do not see an obvious displaced fracture or dislocation in these left-knee views.
This appears to be a child's knee. The open growth plates at the lower femur and upper tibia are expected at this age and can look irregular compared with adult X-rays. Overall alignment looks reasonably maintained.
However, subtle fractures, growth-plate injuries, ligament injuries, and early bone infection can be missed on a photo or even on initial X-rays. Please rely on the radiologist's written report and the clinician who examined the child.
Seek urgent assessment today if there is:
  • inability to walk or bear weight
  • severe or worsening pain/swelling
  • fever, a hot/red knee, or the child seems unwell
  • numbness, a cold/pale foot, or deformity
For knee trauma, persistent focal bony tenderness or difficulty bearing weight merits clinical reassessment even if initial radiographs seem reassuring, consistent with ACR knee-trauma evidence.
