NHS vaginal bleeding between periods pregnancy test urgent symptoms

Slight bleeding 11 days before an expected period is often spotting and can occur from normal hormone changes around ovulation, stress, starting or missing hormonal contraception, or irritation after sex. Other causes include vaginal/cervical infection, polyps or fibroids.
Pregnancy is also possible if you have had unprotected sex, including early pregnancy spotting. Take a home pregnancy test now if pregnancy is possible, but because it may be early, repeat it on or after 15 October if the first test is negative and your period does not arrive. Bleeding between periods should be checked if it persists or recurs, as NHS guidance explains.
Seek urgent medical care today if pregnancy is possible and you develop:
  • One-sided or worsening lower abdominal pain
  • Shoulder-tip pain
  • Dizziness, fainting, weakness, or shortness of breath
  • Heavy bleeding, soaking a pad in an hour, large clots, or severe pain
These can be warning signs of ectopic pregnancy or significant bleeding, even before a positive pregnancy test. See the NHS ectopic pregnancy symptoms and pregnancy bleeding advice.
If the spotting continues more than a few days, happens after sex, has unusual discharge/odor, itching, fever, pelvic pain, or repeats next cycle, arrange an appointment with a gynecologist or sexual-health clinician for assessment and possibly a pregnancy and STI test.

NHS thrush treatment vaginal bleeding cream side effects pregnancy

The thrush medicine may be related, especially if you used a vaginal cream or pessary such as clotrimazole. It can occasionally cause local irritation, burning, discharge, or slight vaginal bleeding. The infection itself can also inflame the vaginal tissue and cause spotting. NHS clotrimazole guidance lists vaginal bleeding as a possible side effect.
However, do not assume it is only the medicine:
  • If there is any chance of pregnancy, take a home pregnancy test now and repeat it on or after 15 October if negative and your period is late.
  • If you are pregnant or trying to conceive, do not take oral fluconazole without medical advice. Vaginal antifungal treatments are usually preferred after speaking with a clinician. NHS pregnancy guidance
  • Contact a doctor or gynecologist if bleeding lasts over a few days, becomes heavier, keeps returning, or the thrush symptoms do not improve within 7 days.
  • Seek urgent care if you have severe or one-sided lower-abdominal pain, shoulder pain, dizziness/fainting, fever, or heavy bleeding.
Tell me the exact name, dose, and whether it was a tablet, cream, or vaginal pessary, and I can explain whether spotting is a known side effect.
