The female reproductive system includes the organs responsible for ovulation, menstruation, fertilization, pregnancy, childbirth, and hormone production.
  1. External genitalia (vulva) - mons pubis, labia majora/minora, clitoris, vestibule, and vestibular glands
  2. Internal organs - vagina, cervix, uterus, uterine tubes, and ovaries
  3. Ovaries and hormones - oogenesis; estrogen, progesterone, inhibin, and AMH
  4. Uterine tube and fertilization - ovum transport and the usual site of fertilization
  5. Uterus and endometrium - implantation, pregnancy support, and menstrual shedding
  6. Menstrual cycle - ovarian cycle, uterine cycle, and hormonal control by the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis
  7. Pregnancy and lactation - placentation, fetal development, labor, and breastfeeding
  8. Applied anatomy - ectopic pregnancy, PCOS, endometriosis, fibroids, pelvic inflammatory disease, and cervical cancer screening
