These symptoms cannot confirm cirrhosis, but they are concerning and need urgent in-person medical assessment today.
- Nose bleeding can occur with low platelets or poor blood clotting, including in severe liver disease, but also with infections such as dengue and many other conditions.
- Yellow skin or eyes, dark urine, or yellow vomiting may indicate jaundice or liver/bile-duct problems.
- Fever for 7 days plus waist/back pain can indicate an infection involving the kidneys, liver, gallbladder, or another serious cause.
Take the patient to an emergency department or doctor now, especially if bleeding continues, there is confusion/sleepiness, severe abdominal pain or swelling, vomiting blood, black stool, reduced urine, dizziness, or trouble breathing.
They may need blood tests including liver function, bilirubin, blood count/platelets, clotting tests, kidney tests, and possibly ultrasound. Do not give aspirin, ibuprofen, or alcohol, because these can worsen bleeding or liver injury.
