I am thinking of buying a vacuum robot with the budget of $300 to $450 and I want it to be very less maintaining. I should not be responsible for servicing or at least changing different parts on monthly basis and it should have those cleaning dustbins which is easy to fill and replace and should take less than a minute. And I want good dryness and good mopping coverage, good quality and my home is only 880 square feet. So, I was thinking that it should be able to clean this much in 2 to 3 hours. Help me, find the best one

"Maintenance has been minimal. The mop cleaning/drying program has kept the roller clean and odor-free for the 4 months I used the beta unit. In the month using the final vacuum I've not had any issues with the roller mop getting stinky or dirty." - u/[beta tester], r/RobotVacuums
| Complaint | How common | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| Dirty water tank must be emptied every 1-2 days or it grows mold and stinks | Confirmed by multiple users | Real issue - it's a daily 30-second task, but you can't ignore it |
| Mop skips the last ~1 inch near baseboards | Confirmed | No fix - premium models solve this but cost more |
| Dock drying cycle is loud and long | Confirmed by Mumsnet real-home test | Annoying at night |
| App was buggy at launch (mapping issues, skipping rooms) | Confirmed but largely fixed by updates | Low risk now |
| Taller body (4.35 in) - may not fit under low sofas or beds | Confirmed | Measure your furniture clearance |
| Eufy customer service is terrible | Multiple Reddit users mention this | Significant risk if anything breaks |
| Initial dirty water tray clogging issues | Reported by beta users, fixed in production | Low risk now |
"Eufy customer service, should you ever need them, are horrendous. Unimaginably awful." - r/RobotVacuums community thread
"The TP-Link Tapo RV30 Max Plus and iRobot Roomba QO120 were extremely difficult to maintain, with tangled brushes and hair that required scissors and significant effort to clean." - TechGearLab hands-on testing

I want LiDAR AI. obstacle avoidance, so that it is avoiding different obstacles. That is not a very must feature, but it's good having. And I think I'll be using this robot for only five to six months. After that, I would probably sell it, so I can buy the best one and around $500 or less

"I just got my X40 ultra refurbished and I think I cry a little after my first run, as for someone who upgraded from a eufy robovac G30. Amazing price and performance!" - r/RobotVacuums
"Dreame X40 Ultra here, had it since moving into new house with all hardwood floors and we have not mopped or vacuumed once since. We run it every night. 100% recommend." - r/RobotVacuums
"Basically a 2-year-old flagship. Solid obstacle avoidance due to AI-powered cameras and LiDAR." - r/RobotVacuums
| Feature | X40 Ultra |
|---|---|
| Navigation | LiDAR + AI cameras + RGB + LED - full obstacle recognition |
| Obstacle avoidance | TechGearLab: 9.2/10 - "dodged every item" in testing, top score in category |
| Suction | 12,000 Pa |
| Dock | Full auto: empties, washes mop pads, dries them, clean + dirty water tanks |
| Mopping | Spinning dual mop pads (not roller - but dock washes and dries them) |
| Maintenance | Dock handles everything - rated "easy to maintain" by TechGearLab |
| Coverage | More than enough for 880 sq ft |
| Real complaint | How serious |
|---|---|
| Dreame customer service is genuinely terrible - multiple Reddit threads, one titled "Dreame is a scam" | Serious if it breaks. Buy from Amazon, not Dreame direct, so you keep Amazon return/warranty protection |
| At 17 months one user's Wi-Fi stopped working, sent for repair, came back with navigation broken | Risk exists - mitigated by buying refurb through Amazon |
| Spinning mops vs roller mops - spinning is slightly less aggressive on dried stains | Minor for your home size |
| One user couldn't get Alexa integration working (possible server outage at time) | Minor |
| Dirty water tank can smell if left for days | Same as Eufy C28 - empty every couple days |
Key takeaway from one experienced Reddit user: "Bottom line: Eufy for reliability and mopping, Roborock for carpet/suction, Dreame for object avoidance." This perfectly matches your "nice to have AI obstacle avoidance" requirement.
