No. Teneligliptin should not be repurposed or used as an antiulcer medicine.
- Teneligliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor for type 2 diabetes, used to lower blood glucose by prolonging incretin activity. It is not an acid-suppressing or ulcer-healing drug. Katzung's Basic and Clinical Pharmacology, 16th ed., p. 1189.
- There is no established clinical evidence or approved indication supporting teneligliptin for peptic ulcer treatment or prevention.
- Using it for an ulcer could cause harm, especially hypoglycemia when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas, without treating the ulcer's cause.
For suspected gastric or duodenal ulcer, treatment usually depends on the cause: testing and eradication for H. pylori when present, stopping/reducing ulcer-causing NSAIDs if possible, and an appropriate acid-suppressing medicine such as a proton-pump inhibitor prescribed by a clinician.
Seek urgent care for vomiting blood, black tarry stool, fainting, severe abdominal pain, or unexplained weight loss.
