In the usual Indian MBBS curriculum, 2nd year (Phase II) includes:

- Pharmacology
- Microbiology
- Forensic Medicine and Toxicology (FMT)
Many colleges also begin or continue clinical postings and early exposure to subjects such as Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Pediatrics, and Community Medicine.

You’re right. In many current college schedules, FMT is not taught in 2nd year.
2nd year MBBS subjects:
- Pathology
- Pharmacology
- Microbiology
FMT / Forensic Medicine is generally taught later, often in 3rd year / Phase III Part 1, depending on your university and batch curriculum. My earlier answer used the broader NMC subject list rather than your college’s year-wise distribution.

3rd year MBBS subjects are usually:
- Forensic Medicine and Toxicology (FMT)
- Community Medicine / PSM
You will also have clinical postings in major departments such as Medicine, Surgery, OBGYN, Pediatrics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, and Psychiatry, depending on your college timetable.

In the new CBME curriculum, 3rd year / Phase III Part 1 subjects are:
- Forensic Medicine and Toxicology (FMT)
- Community Medicine / PSM
- ENT / Otorhinolaryngology
- Ophthalmology
So yes, FMT and PSM start in 2nd year and continue into 3rd year, while ENT and Ophthalmology are major 3rd-year subjects. The Phase III Part 1 university examination includes all four. This is stated in the NMC CBME curriculum.
