EMERGENCY - Heart Problem on Bus

🚨 STEP 1 - Call for Help

• Call 112 (works anywhere in India, free)
• Tell them: "Woman on bus, heart problem, need ambulance"
• Tell your location or bus route number

🚨 STEP 2 - Stop the Bus

• Tell the driver to stop and call for help
• Turn on hazard lights

🚨 STEP 3 - Help the Woman

• Lay her down flat, or let her sit if she finds it easier to breathe
• Loosen tight clothing - collar, bra strap, anything tight around chest or neck
• Do NOT give her food or water
• Keep her calm - talk to her gently, hold her hand
• Do not leave her alone

🚨 STEP 4 - If She Becomes Unconscious

• Check if she is breathing - watch her chest
• If NOT breathing - start CPR:
  • Place both hands on center of her chest
  • Push down hard and fast - 30 times
  • Then give 2 breaths into her mouth (if you can)
  • Keep going until help arrives

🚨 STEP 5 - Ask Passengers

• Ask if anyone on the bus is a doctor or nurse
• Shout loudly - "Is anyone a doctor? Medical emergency!"

📞 Emergency Numbers (India)

Sustac (Glyceryl Trinitrate / Nitrate tablet) - For Chest Pain/Angina

✅ DO THIS NOW:

• Look for the Sustac tablets - small bottle or strip

• Place 1 tablet under her tongue (she must not swallow it - let it melt there)
• OR if it is a spray - 1 spray under the tongue

• Do NOT lay her flat if she is conscious
• Sitting position is better for heart patients

• If pain does not go away after 5 minutes - give 1 more tablet under tongue
• Maximum 3 tablets total, one every 5 minutes

⚠️ IMPORTANT - Do NOT give if:

• She is unconscious
• Her blood pressure is very low (feeling very faint, pale, weak)

🚨 STILL CALL 112 or 108

Good News - She is Stable Now 👍

✅ RIGHT NOW - Keep Doing This:

• Windows open - fresh air is good, keep it open ✓
• Let her rest in her son's lap - comfortable position is fine ✓
• Talk to her softly - keep her calm, no stress
• Do not give food or water yet
• Watch her face - if it turns pale, blue lips, or she sweats heavily - act fast

🚨 IF SHE BECOMES CRITICAL AGAIN:

• 1 tablet under the tongue immediately
• She can take up to 3 tablets total (one every 5 minutes)
• Count how many she already took - do not exceed 3 total

• Do not wait this time - call while giving tablet

• Lay her flat on the floor of the bus
• Check if she is breathing (watch chest rise)
• If NOT breathing - start chest compressions:
  • Both hands, center of chest
  • Push down hard 30 times fast
  • 2 breaths into mouth
  • Repeat until help comes

• Tell driver to stop at nearest hospital or clinic immediately

✅ BEST POSITION - Semi-Sitting (Half Lying)

• Her back should be slightly raised - not fully flat, not fully sitting
• Use a bag, rolled jacket, or cloth behind her back as support

• Head resting on her son's shoulder or a soft support

• ❌ Do NOT make her sit fully upright - puts strain on heart
• ❌ Do NOT lay her completely flat - makes breathing harder
• ❌ Do NOT let her legs hang down from the seat

💡 Simple Way to Remember:

• Comfortable angle, breathing easy, legs up on seat

If She Feels Dizzy or Faint:

• Then lay her more flat and raise her legs slightly
• This helps blood flow to the brain

Always Under the Tongue - NEVER Swallow with Water

• Place the tablet under her tongue
• She must let it melt/dissolve there
• Do NOT swallow it
• Do NOT drink water with it
• Do NOT chew it
• Just keep it under tongue and let it dissolve slowly
