The photos show the uvula and soft palate, but they are out of focus and do not let me reliably assess the tonsils, throat redness, pus/exudate, swelling, or asymmetry.
I do not see an obvious severe one-sided bulge or a clearly displaced uvula in these images, but a photo cannot rule out throat infection, uvulitis, strep throat, tonsillitis, allergy-related swelling, or an abscess.
Please seek urgent in-person care now if you have any of the following: trouble breathing, inability to swallow saliva or drooling, a muffled "hot-potato" voice, noisy/high-pitched breathing, rapidly increasing swelling, severe one-sided throat pain, neck swelling, or inability to drink. These are emergency warning signs listed in the NHS sore-throat guidance.
If you have sore throat, fever, painful swallowing, swollen neck glands, rash, or symptoms lasting more than a few days, arrange an examination and, if indicated, a rapid strep test or throat swab. If you want, tell me your age and symptoms, including fever, pain duration, cough/runny nose, swallowing difficulty, and any medication/allergy exposure.

What details should I share for a better assessment?

Share as many of these as you can:
  1. Your age and any relevant health conditions, especially immune suppression, diabetes, pregnancy, or recent chemotherapy/steroid use.
  2. Main symptoms: sore throat, fever (measured temperature if available), cough, runny nose, hoarse voice, headache, body aches, rash, mouth ulcers, bad breath, or swollen neck glands.
  3. Timing: when it began, whether it is worsening, and whether it followed a cold, COVID exposure, allergy exposure, smoking/vaping, reflux, or recent sick contact.
  4. Swallowing and breathing: Can you swallow water and saliva? Any drooling, choking, feeling the throat is closing, noisy breathing, shortness of breath, or muffled voice?
  5. Pain pattern: severity from 0 to 10, one-sided versus both sides, ear pain, neck stiffness, or difficulty opening your mouth.
  6. Visible changes: white/yellow patches, marked redness, enlarged tonsils, one side larger than the other, uvula pushed to one side, or a rash.
  7. Medicines and allergies: what you have taken, whether it helped, and any drug allergies.
  8. Testing: recent COVID, influenza, or strep test results, if any.
For a clearer photo: use a bright light or phone flash, open wide, gently say "ahh," focus on the back of the throat, and take one wider image plus close-ups of each tonsil. Do not force your tongue down or poke the throat.
If you have breathing difficulty, drooling/unable to swallow saliva, rapidly worsening swelling, noisy breathing, severe one-sided pain/swelling, or a muffled voice, seek emergency care rather than waiting for photo assessment.
