This is an ultrasound report for a pregnancy. Here's what it all means in plain language:
Basic Info
- Patient: Mrs. Alisha Aftab Tamboli, 26 years old
- Last menstrual period (LMP): 15 November 2025
- Gestational age: 37 weeks and 1 day - this means she is full-term (normal pregnancy is 40 weeks, but 37+ weeks is considered "term")
- Expected due date (EDD): 22 August 2026 - about 3 weeks away
The Baby (Fetus)
- There is one baby, alive, inside the uterus
- The baby is in a head-down position (cephalic) - this is the ideal position for normal delivery
- Heart rate is 130 beats per minute - completely normal (normal range is 110-160 bpm)
- Baby's movements and heartbeat look normal
Water Around the Baby (Liquor/Amniotic Fluid)
- The fluid level is at the lower end of normal
- AFI (Amniotic Fluid Index) = 9.2 cm - normal is roughly 8-18 cm, so this is just within range but on the lower side
- This is something the doctor should be aware of and monitor
Placenta
- The placenta (the organ that feeds the baby) is at the back wall of the uterus (fundoposterior)
- Grade III - this means the placenta is mature, which is expected at 37 weeks
- It is not low-lying, so it won't block the birth canal - good news for normal delivery
Cervix (Mouth of the Uterus)
- The cervix is closed - the baby is not coming out yet
- No "funneling" - meaning the cervix hasn't started opening from the inside, so labor hasn't begun
Baby's Growth Measurements
This is the most important part to understand carefully:

What this means: The actual pregnancy is 37 weeks, but the baby's measurements are closer to 34-35 weeks. All measurements fall below the 20th percentile, and the belly measurement is extremely low at only the 2nd percentile.
This pattern - where the baby's belly is measuring smaller than the head - often suggests the baby is not getting enough nutrition through the placenta, a condition called Fetal Growth Restriction (FGR). The low fluid level adds to this concern.
Bottom Line (in simple terms):
The pregnancy is full-term and the baby is head-down, which is good. However, the baby appears smaller than expected for its age, especially the belly, and the amniotic fluid is on the low side. These are signs that need prompt attention from the doctor. The doctor may want to do more monitoring (like a non-stress test or Doppler scan) and may consider delivering the baby soon rather than waiting till the due date.
