Preparation & Administration
- Dilute in at least 10 mL of Normal Saline (0.9% NaCl) or 5% Dextrose before IV use
- Never give undiluted IV push
- Rate: Administer slowly over 2-5 minutes minimum
- IM route is acceptable when IV access is unavailable (no dilution needed for IM)

- Injection: 22.5 mg/mL (2 mL ampoule = 45 mg total)
Important Safety Points
- Rapid IV injection carries risk of: seizures, hypotension, respiratory depression/apnea
- Paradoxical excitement can occur in young children
- Monitor vitals and SpO2 continuously during IV administration
- In anaphylaxis, Avil is only an adjunct - epinephrine is always first-line
- Use with caution if co-administering other sedative agents (apnea risk increases)
