I prepared a journal-style original research manuscript based on your thesis, formatted for a Cureus-type submission.

Cureus Original Article Universal Newborn Eye Screening Datia

Word Document · DOCX

Included:
  • Structured abstract
  • Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Limitations, and Conclusion
  • Four editable tables
  • Ethics, consent, funding, conflict, data availability, and authorship declaration placeholders
  • References
  • A separate final page with a data-verification and submission checklist
Important before submission:
  1. Add your Institutional Ethics Committee approval number and date.
  2. Verify author order, affiliations, corresponding email, consent, funding, and conflicts.
  3. Recheck the raw dataset. Your thesis has important inconsistencies:
    • Fundus Table 4 totals exceed 1,100 and has potentially duplicate PHPV/PFV categories.
    • Low-birth-weight anomaly counts differ between Tables 6 and 7.
    • Some categories may overlap, so they should not be presented as mutually exclusive unless confirmed.
  4. Do not claim “effectiveness” of screening from this cross-sectional study. The paper appropriately states that abnormalities were detected through screening.
  5. Perform a plagiarism/similarity check and revise retained thesis phrasing before submission.
Cureus requires online submission, ethics and conflict disclosures, and potential advisers during submission, as described in its author process overview.

I audited the embedded master chart, reconstructed the analyzable dataset, and replaced non-reproducible thesis values with chart-derived values.

Key corrections

  • The master chart contains 1,100 serial numbers, but serial no. 15 is completely blank. Correct analyzable denominator: N = 1,099.
  • Sex: 583 male (53.05%) and 516 female (46.95%), not 517 female.
  • Gestational age: Master chart supports 570 preterm (51.91%), 522 term (47.50%), 6 post-term (0.55%), and 1 invalid/missing entry. This does not match the original 110 preterm, 942 term, 48 post-term.
  • Birth weight: Mean 2,325.8 ± 716.2 g is consistent with the thesis. However, chart-derived low birth weight <2,500 g is 669/1,099 (60.87%), not 165/1,100 (15.0%).
  • Fundus findings: Corrected recorded values are retinal immaturity 87 (7.92%), retinal hemorrhage 60 (5.46%), retinal/choroidal coloboma 5 (0.45%), not visualized 16 (1.46%), and retinal hamartoma 1 (0.09%). These findings overlap, so they must not be totalled into a single 100% table.
  • External/structural findings: Subconjunctival hemorrhage 48 (4.37%), iris coloboma 6 (0.55%), congenital corneal opacity 4 (0.36%), congenital cataract 3 (0.27%), and other items are corrected in the audit tables.
  • Original risk-factor Tables 2, 3, 6, and 7 are not publication-safe. Their counts cannot be reproduced from the master chart. They should be rebuilt from original case sheets or the native Excel/SPSS dataset.
  • The master chart also contains dates outside the stated October 2024 to December 2025 study period. These require verification before submission.

Cureus original article author instructions data accuracy ethics statement 2026

I cannot honestly label the manuscript “publication-ready with verified numbers” yet.
The PDF master chart and thesis summary tables conflict substantially. The audited reconstruction is internally consistent with the PDF chart, but true verification requires the original source data, such as the Excel/SPSS file or case-record forms.
Please upload the original dataset in Excel, CSV, or SPSS format. I will then:
  1. Validate every record and resolve duplicates, blanks, dates, and coding errors.
  2. Define mutually exclusive outcomes and clinically appropriate composite outcomes.
  3. Recalculate all descriptive tables and statistical tests.
  4. Produce a final, submission-ready Cureus manuscript with verified numbers.
  5. Provide a clean analysis workbook and final Word manuscript.
If the embedded PDF master chart is your only available source and you want it treated as the final source of truth, reply: “Use the audited master chart as final data.” I can then create a manuscript that transparently reports its chart-derived results and limitations, but it still cannot claim independently verified source data.

I completed the final manuscript using the uploaded native Excel dataset, not the inconsistent thesis summary tables.

Final verified analytic cohort

  • Native spreadsheet entries: 1,100
  • Blank clinical record excluded: 1
  • Duplicate same-event rows merged: 7
  • Final analytic cohort: 1,092 newborns

Verified headline results

  • Male: 581 (53.2%)
  • Mean birth weight: 2,328.2 ± 717.4 g
  • Subconjunctival hemorrhage: 48 (4.4%)
  • Retinal immaturity: 86 (7.9%)
  • Retinal hemorrhage: 59 (5.4%)
  • Any recorded ocular finding: 217 (19.9%; 95% CI 17.6%-22.3%)
The manuscript contains four internally consistent, editable tables and 95% confidence intervals. It deliberately excludes the original unreliable risk-factor association tables because the source fields are incomplete overlapping free text and do not support valid regression or causal claims.

Before submission, complete the bracketed items in the manuscript:
  1. Institutional Ethics Committee approval number, date, and consent wording.
  2. Exact recruitment period, after checking delivery registers. The spreadsheet field is labeled “EDD” and contains dates that conflict with the thesis period.
  3. Verification of the single chart entry written as “Retinoblatoma.” It was excluded from the primary composite outcome pending clinical confirmation.
  4. Final author details, CRediT contributions, funding, conflicts, and corresponding-author email.
Cureus requires accurate author details and disclosure information during submission, as summarized in its submission instructions.
