One thing that deepened my understanding of community medicine was seeing how strongly health is influenced by factors outside the clinic, such as sanitation, housing, income, education, transport, and family support. The field experience showed me that prescribing a medicine alone may not solve a patient’s problem if they cannot afford it, reach a health facility, or follow advice in their living conditions. This made community medicine feel practical and closely connected to everyday life.

As a future doctor, I will take forward the importance of listening to patients in their social and family context. I want to treat the person, not only the disease, and communicate in a respectful, understandable way. I will also value prevention, health education, early referral, and teamwork with community health workers to make care more accessible.
