Possibilities include a benign skin growth, an inflamed cyst, a healed lesion with post-inflammatory pigmentation, or less commonly an axillary lymph-node/soft-tissue lump.

It should be examined in person, particularly if it is new, enlarging, painful, itchy, discharging pus/blood, ulcerated, or associated with fever, breast lump, or weight loss. A dermatologist or general surgeon can assess it and may use ultrasound if it is felt to be beneath the skin.
