The Friendship - Comic Strip

📖 The Friendship - Story in 4 Lines

  1. On December 26, 2004, a massive tsunami struck the coast of Kenya, sweeping a group of hippos into the ocean - and a baby hippo was left behind alone on the rocks.
  2. Brave rescuers worked hard to catch the frightened 270 kg baby hippo, and after a man named Owen wrestled him down, they named the little one "Owen" and took him to a wildlife sanctuary.
  3. At the sanctuary, scared and lonely Owen spotted a large greyish 130-year-old giant tortoise named Mzee, ran to him, and hid behind him just as he would have done with his mother.
  4. The unlikely pair - a baby hippo and an ancient tortoise - became the best of friends, eating, walking, swimming, and sleeping together, amazing the world with a heartwarming bond between a mammal and a reptile.
