I checked the manufacturer listing for Fercee Syrup 200 mL. It contains, per 15 mL:
- Elemental iron 32.8 mg
- Folic acid 0.5 mg
- Vitamin B12 7.5 mcg
This is the same Fercee type shown in your photo.
Alkem’s product listing confirms the strength.
Matching Ferplex to Fercee
| Medicine | Amount | Elemental iron |
|---|
| Ferplex | 1 vial = 15 mL | 40 mg |
| Fercee | 15 mL | 32.8 mg |
To replace one Ferplex vial (40 mg iron), the mathematically similar Fercee dose is:
18 mL Fercee once daily
(about 3½ teaspoons, using a proper measuring cup/syringe, not a kitchen spoon)
However, for routine supplementation at 5 months of pregnancy, 15 mL once daily provides 32.8 mg elemental iron, which is close to the common minimum daily pregnancy iron amount of 30 mg. This is often reasonable if the Ferplex was prescribed only as routine supplementation, not for significant anemia.
If she was prescribed 2 Ferplex vials per day because her hemoglobin is low, do not simply substitute without her obstetrician confirming it. The equivalent would be about 36 mL Fercee daily, but a clinician should decide treatment dosing and repeat hemoglobin, sometimes ferritin. Anemia in pregnancy is generally assessed when Hb is below 11 g/dL, and iron needs differ between prevention and treatment.
Do not take Ferplex and Fercee together. Take Fercee away from tea, coffee, milk, calcium tablets, and antacids by about 2 hours, since they can reduce iron absorption. Dark stools and mild constipation can occur.
