Repaglinide side effects
  • Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) is the main and most important side effect. Risk rises if you skip or delay a meal, drink alcohol, exercise more than usual, take too much, or use interacting medicines. Symptoms include sweating, shaking, hunger, dizziness, palpitations, confusion, irritability, or blurred vision. DailyMed prescribing information
  • Weight gain can occur, though the risk may be lower than with sulfonylureas. - Lippincott Illustrated Reviews: Pharmacology, p. 230
  • Headache
  • Nausea, diarrhea, constipation, vomiting, or indigestion
  • Joint pain or back pain
  • Cold-like symptoms such as upper-respiratory infection, sinusitis, or rhinitis were reported in trials.
Rare but serious reactions: allergy/anaphylactoid reaction, pancreatitis, severe skin reaction such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome, liver injury with jaundice/hepatitis, hemolytic anemia, and hair loss. Seek urgent medical attention for facial swelling or breathing difficulty, severe rash/blistering, persistent severe abdominal pain, or yellow eyes/skin. DailyMed safety information
Do not take a dose if you skip the meal. Gemfibrozil should not be taken with repaglinide because it can markedly increase repaglinide exposure and hypoglycemia risk. - Lippincott Illustrated Reviews: Pharmacology, p. 230
