"Xavitaz" "reconstituted" storage
For Xavitaz (ceftazidime 2 g + avibactam 0.5 g), use the reconstituted vial immediately. Do not store the reconstituted solution for later use.
- Reconstitute aseptically with sterile water for injection as per the product insert.
- Transfer and dilute for IV infusion promptly.
- If the final diluted infusion cannot be used immediately, follow the exact Xavitaz pack insert or hospital pharmacy policy. The reference ceftazidime-avibactam label permits limited stability after dilution, but this can differ by manufacturer and diluent. The Zavicefta product information states the reconstituted vial should be used immediately.
Do not freeze the reconstituted or diluted solution. Discard any unused portion.
