Elective LSCS means elective lower-segment cesarean section.

It is a planned operation to deliver the baby through an incision in the mother’s lower abdomen and lower part of the uterus, performed before labour starts or before an emergency develops.

This differs from an emergency LSCS, which is performed urgently because a problem arises during labour or pregnancy, such as fetal distress, heavy bleeding, or failure of labour to progress.
