Short answer: Nothing you've described points to a problem yet. Eight months is too early to call it infertility, and two of the three things you mention are probably not the cause.
1. Eight months without pregnancy
  • Infertility is usually defined as no pregnancy after 12 months of regular unprotected intercourse. Many healthy couples take that long.
  • If she is over 35, the usual advice is to get checked after 6 months.
  • She should get checked sooner if her periods are irregular, or if either of them has a known problem such as thyroid disease, prior pelvic infection or surgery, or testicular problems.
2. Husband ejaculating early
  • The key question is whether he ejaculates inside the vagina or before penetration.
  • If it happens inside, this does not affect fertility. The European Association of Urology definition states that premature ejaculation "does not involve any impairment of fertility when intravaginal ejaculation occurs" (Campbell-Walsh Urology, Table 71.1).
  • If he ejaculates before or at the moment of entry, sperm may not reach the vagina, and that can delay pregnancy.
  • Premature ejaculation is common and treatable either way. Options include behavioural techniques (stop-start and squeeze), topical anaesthetic sprays or creams, and medicines such as dapoxetine or low-dose SSRIs. These should be prescribed by a doctor. Anxiety about performance often makes it worse, so counselling can help.
3. Periods lasting only 2 days
  • Normal bleeding lasts about 2 to 7 days. A 2-day period can be a normal pattern for some women, especially if it has always been this way and her cycles come regularly every 21 to 35 days.
  • It deserves a closer look if the bleeding recently became shorter or lighter. Possible causes include:
    • hormonal contraceptive use
    • thyroid problems
    • raised prolactin
    • PCOS
    • low body weight or heavy stress
    • a thin uterine lining
    • uterine scarring after a procedure
  • If her cycles are regular, she is probably ovulating. Mid-cycle clear stretchy mucus, mild one-sided pain, or a positive ovulation kit all support this.
What I would suggest now
  1. Have intercourse every 1 to 2 days during the fertile window, which is about days 10 to 17 of a 28-day cycle. Ovulation kits can help her time it.
  2. She should take folic acid 400 mcg daily. Both partners should avoid smoking and heavy alcohol and keep a healthy weight.
  3. He should see a doctor about the early ejaculation now. It is treatable and does not have to wait.
  4. If there is no pregnancy by 12 months, or sooner in the situations above, do the basic tests as a couple. These are a semen analysis for him, and for her thyroid, prolactin and mid-luteal progesterone blood tests plus a pelvic ultrasound. A tubal test comes later if needed. A semen analysis is cheap and can be done at any time, so it's reasonable to do it early.
Seek earlier care if she has:
  • very irregular or absent periods
  • severe period pain
  • bleeding between periods
  • pain during intercourse
  • a history of pelvic infection
I checked recent PubMed reviews on premature ejaculation. They don't change this advice.
This is general guidance, not a diagnosis. A gynaecologist who sees them both can give a proper opinion.
