WRITING GUIDE FOR RGUHS 50-MARK ANSWER

For RGUHS examination, the ideal structure for this 50-mark answer should include:
Introduction (2 marks): Brief embryological overview - nasal development between weeks 4-12; lateral nasal wall formed from lateral nasal prominence and maxillary process.
Embryology (8 marks): Neural crest migration, nasal placode, medial/lateral prominences, turbinate differentiation.
Anatomy - Bony Framework (8 marks): 5 bones (frontal process maxilla → lacrimal → lamina papyracea → perpendicular plate palatine → medial pterygoid plate), 5 lamellae system.
Turbinates and Meati (8 marks): Inferior (independent), middle/superior (ethmoid), 3 attachments of middle turbinate, each meatus with drainage.
OMC and Key Spaces (6 marks): Hiatus semilunaris, ethmoid infundibulum, OMC, uncinate process, frontal recess.
Blood supply and Nerve supply (6 marks): Sphenopalatine (main), ethmoid arteries, facial, greater palatine; V1/V2/CN I, vidian nerve.
Developmental Anomalies (8 marks): Arhinia, choanal atresia (CHARGE), CNPAS, polyrhinia, concha bullosa, nasal glioma/dermoid/encephalocele.
Recent Advances (2 marks): CHD7/CHARGE genetics, endoscopic transnasal approach, mitomycin C, 3D printing in reconstruction.
Diagrams (2 marks): Use the flowcharts and tables above.
