What Does a Herpes Rash Look Like?
There are two main types - oral herpes (HSV-1) and genital herpes (HSV-2) - and both follow the same visual progression, just in different locations.
The 5 Stages

Oral Herpes (HSV-1 - Cold Sores)

- In women: typically on the labia, but may also appear on the cervix, buttocks, or perineum
- The first outbreak is usually the worst and may include swollen lymph nodes in the groin, fever, and flu-like symptoms
